NESUN E'ELQUISH means "I am sad" in the Cahuilla language.

I chose the form of the roadsign because it would not seem out of place along the dirt roads of our reservation. I like the idea of average people coming across "art" and not recognizing it as "art" but nonetheless recognizing that something is being said.

The signs were only placed along my family's property because I wasn't sure how people would react to them. Since their installment, other residents have requested signs be placed along their property. It makes me happy that people liked what I had done.
